Music for Youth is one of the most important partners of the Trust. They are a national youth arts charity working to provide young people aged 21 and under across the UK with free, life-changing performance and progression opportunities, regardless of background or musical style.
The Regional Festival
The Music for Youth season begins in March with a Regional Festival series. There has been a regional event in Northampton for over twenty years and this is currently spread over three days:
- one day at Spinney Theatre, Northampton School for Girls
- two days at Cripps Hall, Northampton School for Boys
Many of the County Music Groups perform at this regional event which is an opportunity to appear in a prestigious venue and receive valuable feedback from some professional music mentors.

The National Festival
As a result of the regional festival series, some groups are invited to perform at the National Festival, held in Birmingham based around the prestigious Symphony Hall, Town Hall and CBSO Centre.
The Festival is non-competetive. Groups perform to mentors who share their thoughts on the performances they have heard, by way of feedback, at the end of each session.
Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust has a proud record of involvement with Music for Youth at Regional and National Festival level.

The Music for Youth Proms
The flagship event of the Music for Youth season is the Music for Youth Prom, held for three nights in November at the Royal Albert Hall. These concerts represent the breadth of talent across the country and the full range of genres promoted by Music for Youth.
NMPAT has been proud to be represented at the Music for Youth Proms most years and, in 2017, will present one of the Massed Ensemble performances with over 700 performers from the county and our partners to represent the Trust.
