We run a series of residential courses for young musicians at Rock UK Frontier Centre, Addington Road, Irthlingborough, NN9 5UH . Applications are invited from students of the appropriate standard who fall within the specified age ranges and forms are available from NMPAT teachers.

What do the courses cover?
Play & Stay Guitars
The courses are designed for young guitar players in years 4, 5 and 6 who are able to read standard notation (not tab) and able to play G – G on the first 3 strings of the guitar.
As a guide the player should be on or past page 10 of Debbie Cracknell’s ‘Enjoy Playing The Guitar’.
Play & Stay Strings
These courses are designed to provide an opportunity for young string players to enjoy an intensive time of music-making with the added benefit of being able to make new friends. Applications are invited from students in years 3, 4, 5 and 6 at school.
The courses usually end with a short concert finishing at 3:30pm to which parents collecting their children are cordially invited.
Play & Stay Brass
Brass players are invited to apply to join this course, which is designed to provide an opportunity for young musicians to enjoy an intensive time of music-making and make new friends.
Applications are invited from players up to year 8 in school who have reached the standard to pass Grade 1 but not yet joined a county group.
Play & Stay Woodwind
Applications are invited from woodwind players in year 5 and who have reached Grade 1 standard or above, but not yet joined a county group.
The course is designed to provide an opportunity for young musicians to enjoy an intensive time of music-making with the added benefit of being able to make new friends.
How do I apply for a place?
Application forms for all the courses are available from NMPAT teachers in schools.
Please make sure that we receive your completed application form and payment before the closing date.
How do I pay?
Please do not include payment with your application form, once the closing date has passed, we will send out emails confirming places on the course which will include details of how to pay.
How will I know if I have a place?
Emails will be sent out to all applicants once the closing date has passed.
What should I bring with me?
In a small holdall: you will need to bring casual clothes (including nightwear), indoor and outdoor shoes, a towel, toiletries and a small amount of money for the tuck shop. You will also need your instrument (clearly labelled); a music stand; a pencil, eraser and notebook and any spares for your instrument (strings, reeds etc.).
What happens when I get there?
Students attending residential courses will be registered by staff on arrival, allocated rooms and then begin work on their music-making.
Security
The security of the students and staff attending our courses is paramount so please do not arrive at the course venue without prior arrangement with staff.
All personal belongings taken to courses remain the responsibility of students and parents and we suggest that items of high value are not brought along.
Cancellations
Please note that once a place on a course has been confirmed and paid, it will not be possible to issue a refund.
