Composition Workshops

Run by Richard Leigh, NMPAT are pleased to be able to offer weekly composition classes for students interested in writing their own music.  The class is open to all levels – no experience of composing is necessary – and students are encouraged to compose in any style.  The focus is on notating your composition, using Sibelius 7 software.

Subscription cost for Composition workshops is £40 per term for existing members of a NMPAT County Groups or Saturday Centres.  For students who are not in County Groups or attending a Centre, the cost is £90 per term.

Payment is due at the start of each term and should be made on the ParentPay Shop.

How long is the course?

The course usually runs for 11 weeks each term: autumn, spring and summer.  You can sign up for the full year (33 weeks) if you wish – please notify the NMPAT Office at the end of each term if you wish to continue into the next term.

When is the course?

Workshops take place at NMPAT, Kettering Road, Northampton, each Tuesday during term time.  There are two classes last an hour each: 4.30pm and 5.30pm – please indicate your preferred time on the form.

Where is it?

Composition workshops take place in Room 19 at NMPAT, Kettering Road, Northampton.

  • from the car park, go through the low metal gate with a picture of a parent and child on it to door 7
  • once inside the building, turn left and walk up the ramp to the waiting area
  • the room is immediately on your right
  • staff will be available in the Main Office (Door 1) until 5.30pm if you need assistance
