Youth Theatre – Open Access

We are excited to be relaunching our fantastic Youth Theatre in September of 2021!

(restrictions permitting)

We hope to be welcoming back our members pre-lockdown as well as a whole new group of students to our Centre. The first Centre meeting will be on Saturday 18th September from 1:30pm to 4:30pm.

There will be no charge for your first term of activities.

Subscription for membership of the Centre for one term (where there are three terms in the year) is £80 for the full 3 hours, but we are offering every student a fully subsidised first term, so there is nothing to stop you getting involved!

Autumn 2021

The drama team are excited to get back to a full afternoon of creating drama.  The first half term will be full of games that encourage participation and team working.  We will be improving our communication skills and creating characters with a range of dedicated skills workshops.

We will also be launching a script writing competition looking for new writing for our new scriptwriting festival, “From Page to Stage” that will take place in December.  The winning scripts will be performed by our Youth Theatre and Young Actors Company.

We are planning to run our sessions to nurture all that creativity that has been resting for the last few months.  We are also planning on having lots of fun, making friends and bringing the NMPAT building alive again!

Spring 2022

Our Spring and Summer terms will see students rehearsing for a performance at The Castle Theatre in Wellingborough in June 2022.

Our aim

NMPAT Youth Theatre aims to provide high quality performing arts opportunities for young people aged 9 to 18. Young peoples’ social, emotional and educational development is at the heart of what we do. We aim to inspire and nurture our students allowing them to excel.

We aim to develop articulate, confident, well rounded individuals with a wealth of experience to take into their futures, by offering students the opportunity to further advance their skills and to experience training in all aspects of theatre craft, including:

  • Acting: Scripted plays from Greek Theatre up to the present day.
  • Devised Drama
  • Musical Theatre: Vocal techniques and creative movement
  • Technical Stagecraft: Sound, lighting, production, direction, set design and make up
  • Physical Theatre
  • Playwriting

Skills workshops

We offer Skills Workshops from professional practitioners. Recent workshops have included:
