Youth Theatre – Open Access

Come and join us at NMPAT Youth Theatre!

Thank you to everyone who has been involved in our activities this academic year – we’ve had so much fun and it’s been wonderful to be back together again.  We’re excited to see what next year can bring!

If you would like to join us in September, you can register at this link: and Nikki Taylor, Centre Head, will be in touch when the payment portal is open for September.

Students receiving small group or individual tuition with an NMPAT teacher, or students taking part in a “First Access follow on” project at school, are eligible to receive a fully subsidised first term of activities.

Families in financial need are encouraged to apply for remission of fees – please ask your Centre Head for information or find an application form on our payments page.

Membership subscription of £80 per term (£55 if only attending one session) is due at the start of each term.  A new term begins in September, January and April.

Each week  we incorporate lots of games that encourage participation and team working, alongside improving our communication skills, and creating characters with a range of dedicated skills workshops.

We also run a script writing competition, looking for new writing for our scriptwriting festival, “From Page to Stage”.  The winning scripts will be performed by students attending Youth Theatre and Young Actors Company.

We focus on nurturing creativity as well as having lots of fun and making friends, all while working towards a big performance in the summer term.

Our aim

NMPAT Youth Theatre aims to provide high quality performing arts opportunities for young people aged 9 to 18. Young peoples’ social, emotional and educational development is at the heart of what we do. We aim to inspire and nurture our students allowing them to excel.

We aim to develop articulate, confident, well rounded individuals with a wealth of experience to take into their futures, by offering students the opportunity to further advance their skills and to experience training in all aspects of theatre craft, including:

  • Acting: Scripted plays from Greek Theatre up to the present day.
  • Devised Drama
  • Musical Theatre: Vocal techniques and creative movement
  • Technical Stagecraft: Sound, lighting, production, direction, set design and make up
  • Physical Theatre
  • Playwriting

Skills workshops

We offer Skills Workshops from professional practitioners. Recent workshops have included:

  • Frantic Assembly Theatre – Physical Theatre
  • Circus skills
  • Sound and lighting

Productions are an important and regular feature of Youth Theatre activities. We aim to stage one main production a year with other smaller projects when appropriate.

The online registration form asks for some essential details, which will enable NMPAT staff to keep your child safe while they are with us.  You are more than welcome to come and try out the activities before you commit to paying your first term’s subscription.

Following your free taster morning, payment of £80 per term applies and can be made via the ParentPay Shop.  Families in financial need are encouraged to apply for remission of fees – details of which can be found on our Payments page.
