NMPAT Towcester Centre

NMPAT Towcester is the Saturday morning performing arts school for the Towcester area.  We offer classes from age 3 upwards in music and drama. At the centre you can play in a group, learn an instrument, take part in drama, attend workshops, perform at concerts and have fun!

Centre timetable for 2017 to 2018

Play in a group

We have a variety of groups at senior and junior level including:

  • brass, woodwind and strings
  • orchestra
  • folk
  • recorders and singing
  • guitars and ukuleles

Learn an instrument

While you are at centre you can borrow an instrument and learn to play. Instruments include:

  • recorder
  • ukulele
  • strings
  • keyboard

If you like the stage …

We have groups for developing budding talents in drama and musical theatre and organise a specialist drama evening to show off the skills learned.

For our younger members

We have a group dedicated to the 3-5 age range, led by a specialist early years teacher. There is a separate group for Key Stage 1. During these sessions the children learn about rhythm and pitch by playing percussion instruments and singing. They learn to play the ocarina and to use hand chimes and boom-whackers. These sessions encourage children to develop vital learning skills: listening, copying, recognising, memorising, repeating, attention to detail, and increasing their attention span. Most of all, they learn that making music is fun.

Doing an exam?

We offer support for aural training, sight-reading and theory to help children prepare for practical exams.

The centre runs termly workshops to explore forms of music, dance and drama beyond the normal timetable. This year the focus will be on folk music, dancing and story-telling.

Come for a free taster session

If you would just like to come and see what we do, you would be most welcome to come for a free taster session. Just turn up and someone will be able to show you what there is to see.
