Music

For our younger students who perhaps have not started to learn an instrument yet, we offer an introduction to music through the use of instruments such as the guitar, recorder, keyboards and drums, and also encourage the children to sing in our rock and pop vocals and centre choir.

For children already learning an instrument

Our other music groups include two orchestras, jazz band, wind bands, brass group, traditional/folk group, strings, guitars, drums, samba, theory, recorders, and rock bands.

We cater for all abilities - from the absolute beginner to the more advanced - and we cover an extensive range of musical genres from classical to rock and folk.

Dance

We are currently able to offer several dance classes – for beginner to advanced, and these include two mixed dance groups, boys only street,  beginner and advanced ballet. We have 3 fantastic dance teachers to take you through your steps and provide a wealth of styles.

Drama and acting skills

The drama and acting skills groups are a great place to build confidence, and give our pupils an insight into the technical elements of drama through activities, games and performance opportunities.

Musical theatre

We have two musical theatre groups including our Training Musical Theatre for our younger students and those who are less experience wanting to build up their skills.

Each year our musical theatre groups stage a full production. Previous productions include: Bugsy Malone, Oliver, Annie, The Boyfriend, Fiddler on the Roof Junior, Guys and Dolls Junior, Back to the 80's and Fame Junior.  2017's production will be 'Singing in the Rain Junior'.

Our awards success

In 2013 we won the NODA Award for Best Youth Production in the Eastern Region District 7 for our production of Fiddler On The Roof Junior. We have also been nominated for our productions of Guys and Dolls and this year we were nominated for our production of Back to the 80's.

National Operative and Dramatic Association (NODA) gives advice and support for amateur theatre companies, to help achieve the highest standards of best practice and performance. They review performances and give out awards for best production and competitions for the best programmes and posters. For more information, see their website.

Concerts and performances

We hold concerts each term with a workshop day in the summer term. We have evening concerts for our senior groups.
Our senior groups perform regularly outside the centre at charity and community events. The centre also takes part in local and national festivals.
