County Clarinet Choir

The Flute choir in performance at Spinney Theatre, May 2015

About the County Clarinet Choir

The Clarinet Choir is one of the four woodwind chamber groups of the Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust and rehearses on Tuesday evenings in Room 18 at the Kettering Road Music and Arts Centre from 7:15pm to 8:15pm. The director for the 2016 to 2017 season is Andy Kirkwood.

The Clarinet Choir has a full range of instruments from Eb clarinet to Bb contra bass and programme the very best of repertoire for the ensemble.

For 23 years the ensemble was under the direction of clarinet teacher, John Sharp, who established them as a nationally recognised ensemble with many appearances at the finals of the National Festival of Music for Youth. Since 2010 the group has been under new leadership, but the intention remains the same: to perform at the highest level on the national stage. Their annual programme includes a series of concerts around the county and regular appearances at the regional round of the National Festival of Music for Youth.
