About the County Training Wind Orchestra

Conductor: Giles LiddiardThe CTWO is the second wind orchestra of the Music and Performing Arts Trust and rehearses on Friday evenings in the Richard Coles Hall at the Kettering Road Music and Arts Centre from 6:15pm – 8:45pm. The conductors for the 2017 to 2018 season are Giles Liddiard and Meghan McCrimmon (pictured left).

The band was created to be a training opportunity for students hoping one day to be in the County Youth Concert Band, but has become a strong performing group in its own right. It has appeared at the finals of the National Festival of Music for Youth and twice - in 1993 and Meghan McCrimmon2006 - took the coveted Highly Commended Performance award.

During the course of the year, the band appears in several county music concerts, including the Wind Band Spectacular and the Second Generation Concert at the Derngate. The annual programme also includes a residential course at Grendon Hall and participation in the regional round of the National Festival of Music for Youth.
