About the County Junior Strings

Conductor: Jane HargraveThe CJS is the youngest string orchestra of the Music and Performing Arts Trust and rehearses on Monday evenings in Room 18 at the Kettering Road Music and Arts Centre from 5:15pm to 7:00pm. The conductors for the 2016 to 2017 season are Jane Hargrave and Hannah Allen (pictured).

The orchestra provides a first experience of string orchestra playing for young musicians who might one day be in the County Junior OrchestraCounty Training Orchestra or County Youth Orchestra. It plays music specifically designed for young string players.

Hannah AllenFounded in 2005 it has already become a regular visitor to the finals of the National Festival of Music for Youth and has played in Symphony Hall  and the Adrian Boult Hall in Birmingham. In January 2015 the orchestra appeared at the Music for Youth Primary Prom in Symphony Hall. Birmingham.

During the course of the year, the orchestra appears in several County Music concerts, including the annual "Highly Strung" and the New Generation Concert at the Derngate. The annual programme also includes a Residential Course at Grendon Hall.
