About the County Training Brass Band

Conductor: Gary FountainThe conductor for the 2017 to 2018 season is Gary Fountain (pictured).

The band was founded as the County Junior Brass Band in 1991, becoming the CTBB the following year. It was designed to be a training opportunity for students hoping one day to be in the County Youth Brass Band, but has become a strong performing group in its own right. It has twice appeared at the finals of the National Festival of Music for Youth - in 1995 and 2002.

During the course of the year, the band appears in several county music concerts, including the Brass Band Spectacular and the Second Generation concert at the Derngate. The annual programme also includes a residential course at Grendon Hall and participation in the regional round of the National Festival of Music for Youth.
