About NYPE

Director: Tim GreenNYPE (pronounced Nigh-Pea) is the Northamptonshire Youth Percussion Ensemble and rehearses on Friday evenings in the Edmund Rubbra Hall at the Kettering Road Music and Arts Centre from 5pm to 6pm. The director for the 2017 to 2018 season is Matt Butler (pictured).

 

NYPE have a reputation for programming top quality repertoire for percussion ensemble, with the membership reflecting the requirements of the various pieces.

The ensemble was formed by Head of Percussion Tim Green in 2001 and has appeared regularly at the finals of the National Festival of Music for Youth as well as touring to Austria with the CYCB and CYBB in 2003 and appearing in concert with star percussion group Back Beat in 2007. Their annual programme includes a series of concerts around the county and the regional round of the National Festival of Music for Youth.

How to join us

Members of NYPE are drawn by invitation from the percussionists in our senior county groups. Auditions are held annually in July. See the auditions page for further information.
