About county music groups

Northamptonshire has an outstanding reputation for the quality of its county ensembles, with a busy annual performance schedule, many appearance at the finals of National Festivals and a long tradition of tours overseas.

Over a thousand young people, members of our auditioned county groups and Youth Theatre, come to Northampton to the Kettering Road Music and Arts Centre to rehearse weekly during term time. Follow these links above to find our more about our individual music groups, or Youth Theatre, to see them in action and hear the results.

How do you find out about joining?

Membership of these groups is subject to an annual audition, usually in July, and a membership subscription.

You can find information about how to audition here.

Who can apply?

Applicants would normally be young musicians, singers or actors who are still in full time education and live or attend school within Northamptonshire.

Where do the groups rehearse?

All groups rehearse weekly at the Kettering Road Music and Arts Centre on weekday evenings or Saturday mornings and perform at concerts and festivals several times a year.
